The Smiles Behind Rollin' Pedaler
We’re the Harveys—a Christchurch-based family of ten who believe in working together, dreaming big, and finding joy in the little things (especially when they involve ice cream).
Our story with The Rollin Pedaler began with a dream—not just to run a business, but to create something meaningful as a family. When we discovered this beautiful ice cream trike company, originally launched in 2018 by James and Laura, it was clear that this was something special. Their passion for creating joy-filled, sweet moments through ice cream really resonated with us.
We saw more than an ice cream cart, we saw a way to mentor our growing kids, pass on real-world skills, and build something together. Each of our seven children (and daughter-in-law) play a role, from scooping, to setup, flavour testing, to dreaming up new ideas, and everything in-between.
For us, The Rollin Pedaler is about spending time together. It’s about community, connection, and good old-fashioned hard work (with a generous scoop of fun). And we want to bring that to your special event.
We can’t wait to see where this journey takes us, and we’re so grateful you’re a part of it.
MEET THE TEAM
Jason
Father, husband, business owner, and boss man - Jason wears many hats. As a builder, he moved to Christchurch with his young family after the 2011/2012 earthquakes to help rebuild the city. He helped to set up the new community centre as former chairman and opened it with the Mayor in 2021. His desire to support his children as they grow into adulthood led him to purchase The Rollin Pedaler, creating training and job opportunities for his family through this exciting new venture.
Jessie
Jessie brings a positive, uplifting spirit to everything she does, including her support for the family business. A devoted wife to Jason and mother to their seven children, she has dedicated her life to raising and homeschooling her kids. Her heart for her family and others shines through in the encouragement and inspiration she brings to The Rollin Pedaler team.
Eli & Jasi
Eli, the eldest Harvey sibling, and his wife Jasi are integral to the daily running of The Rollin Pedaler. Jasi brings a creative spark and party-planning flair to the team, all while managing her own blog, Gathering Glee. This corner of the Rollin Pedaler family is soon to grow—with a new baby expected in 2025!
Lizzy
Lizzy, the eldest Harvey daughter, has always dreamed of running her own food or coffee cart (watch this space)—and The Rollin Pedaler is that dream come true. Her deep love for the business and a hunger to learn has her soaking up the behind the scenes and daily running of the business from her dad. With a crazy sweet tooth and a heart for making people smile, she’s in her element by making special occasions extra special (with ice cream in hand, of course).
Abby
Abby’s passion for baking and creating delicious meals inspired her to pursue studies in Culinary Arts. Even though she’s busy with school and her studies, she still finds time to bring her talent and warm smile to The Rollin Pedaler—where she delivers the perfect scoop every time.
Noah
He’s the team's go-to for heavy lifting, and is there to help set up the trikes, haul the gear, and keep things rollin’ smoothly behind the scenes. He also holds the title of Head Ice Cream Taste Tester, making sure every scoop meets the highest standards.
Israel, Esther, Abel
Meet the dream team of flavour experts! Israel (11), Esther (6), and Abel (4) take their job as Assistant Taste Testers very seriously—sampling, approving, and occasionally re-testing every flavour (just to be sure). With fussy taste buds and big opinions, they help us choose the yummiest ice creams to feature. If you’ve ever wondered who picked the crowd favourite, chances are it was one of these three!
